Othello-Quintette Tunnels

A world-class attraction in the Hope area is the Othello-Quintette Tunnels.  Built from 1911 to 1916 to complete the Kettle Valley Railway.  Constant washouts and rockslides plagued the railway line causing it to close in 1959.  Since then it has been re-opened for the public to enjoy leisurely walks along the four abandoned railway tunnels and the spectacular Coquihalla Canyon Gorge.  With stunning views and great picnicing opportunities this historic landmark boasts as a great day activity for the whole family.  The park is open from April to October.

Christ Church

Consecrated before Confederation, in 1861, it is the oldest church on the BC mainland still holding services and still on its original site.  The full history, along with information on present-day services, can be found on the front door of the church and on a new plaque in front of the church.  Over the summer the church will be open for guided tours, by donation, Monday - Saturday from 11 am - 3 pm.  Tours are closed on Sundays.

Hope Gliding Centre

Imagine an airplane flying for more than seven hours without an engine and in the power of the winds alone.  That's the thrill behind glider flying for the more than 65 pilots who make the Hope Regional Airpark their home base.  Hope is an ideal location for glider flying as a result of the westerly winds that blow from the Fraser Valley and rise upon hitting the local mountains.  Visitors can catch a glimpse of the gliders soaring by the mountains over the town.  Week long and weekend training programs are available.  For those interested in first taking a ride in a glider, flights launch from the Hope Airpark every weekend and some weekdays.  Bring a lunch and spend a day with the HGC.
