Indigenous Australian Singer-Songwriter Archie Roach is nothing short of a legend in his homeland. A prolific artist, Archie has released over a dozen albums since he launched his career in 1991. One of his most famous songs, “Took the Children Away”, speaks poignantly to the experience of indigenous children who had been forcibly removed from their families by government agencies. A storyteller in the tradition of his ancestors, Archie lives with his family in a homestead near Berri, South Australia, where he and his wife provide refuge for indigenous youth who have had challenges on the streets. We are very lucky to have Archie here at the festival, on his spin of several western Canadian festivals.
