Location: Beach Stage

Maestro Cassius Khan is a master of the Tabla (North Indian pair of drums), and combines his drumming with the Indian classical styles of Ghazal and Thumri singing, in a unique performance. He is a disciple of both the late Mushtari Begum and Tabla maestro Ustad Rushtar Ali, of the Delhi gharana (school or tradition) of Tabla playing, and has become known internationally not only for his classical performance but also as a guest on numerous recordings ranging from pop to electronica and jazz. Amika Kushwaha performs Kathak dance, and is one of the few dancers in Canada who perform this ancient tradition with live musical accompaniment. The interaction between these two artists allows for spontaneity, and Amika gives engaging explanations to the audience to help understand this highly expressive art form.
