Dubbed the “Motorhead of Rockabilly” by a delirious fan after a particularly raucous show in Holland, Cousin Harley presents a pedal to the metal approach to this stripped down, vintage form of rock and roll. For over a decade, Cousin Harley has been the main project of Paul Pigat, one of Canada’s premier guitar players, who has graced our festival stage before with this band as well as Boxcar Campfire and as a sideman for Jim Byrnes. As Pigat notes, “people think it’s easy to play rockabilly, but nothing could be farther from the truth. Everyone has to be on board from the first note or it just doesn’t work.” Indeed, there is nothing tentative about Cousin Harley’s passion, skill, and commitment to rocking out – it’s no wonder they have been so requested to return to our festival. We’re honoured to have them back for the 40th.
