Glenda Rae & The Essentials have been gaining fans from across the globe with their highly improvisational form of Pop Rock and Blue Eyed Soul. Fans describe them as “if the rock icons Steely Dan added Annie Lennox as their lead vocalist.” Glenda Rae is an outstanding singer whose inspirations come from jazz, blues, and gospel. As well as being a songwriter, she is a true interpreter. Whether a song by Van Morrison, Steely Dan, or Stevie Wonder, she serves the song at all times, and spares no effort in providing interpretations that are intended to dig beneath the surface of the lyrics. She always views herself as a vehicle for songs. Guitarist and vocalist Brett Wade is well known in Canadian music as ex-band member with The Electric Prunes, the Dale Jacobs Band, the Wade Bros., and Stallion Thumrock. Miles Black is a renowned keyboard player, with a profound background as a jazz improviser and also strong songwriting chops. Underlying the band is the groove of one of Vancouver’s finest drummers, Phil Robertson, who was at Harrison just last year with Steelin’ in the Years. Come hear some high quality singing and playing, with a mix of familiar and new.
