Vancouver is a city blessed with some internationally reknowned musicians right beneath our noses, making beautiful and original music. Itamar Erez and Hamin Honari are two such musicians. Itamar is a highly accomplished guitarist and composer whose music draws on influences of the east and west. Coming from the cosmopolitan and cultural hotspot of Tel Aviv, he grew up exposed to a range of stylistic influences, including Middle Eastern, jazz, and flamenco music. He is a valued collaborator and has produced two CDs with his own Adama ensemble. Hamin Honari has appeared at Harrison as a member of the Vaasshan family ensemble. He is an Iranian-Canadian hand drummer who plays a variety of Persian hand drums. He has toured as a member of the Dastan Ensemble, one of Iran’s most well-known Persian classical music groups and has performed with many amazing musicians and singers. Together, Itamar and Hamin present an uncommon conversation between guitar and percussion, composition and improvisation.
