April 30, 2018

At Scenic 7 BC, we know that the best way to experience Hope, BC is to immerse yourself in the city’s history and culture. If you are thinking about stopping in Hope while driving along the Scenic 7 Highway, here are some things to do and sights to see that are perfect for family members of all ages.

Othello-Quintette Tunnels

If your family loves spending time outdoors, there is no better place to visit than the Othello-Quintette Tunnels just north of Hope. This series of five tunnels, originally designed for railway use, offer an easy hiking trail that is suitable for all ages. As you walk along the trail that leads through the canyon and tunnels, all of your senses will be invoked by the sudden change in temperature, the smell of damp earth, and the roaring cacophony of the Coquihalla River below. Once finished with your hike, consider enjoying a nice quiet meal in the parks picnic area. The Othello-Quintette Tunnels are open to the public from May to mid-October.

Hope Arts Gallery

The Hope Arts Gallery (open Tuesday-Sunday from 10am-4pm) proudly presents the work of local and regional artists from a wide range of different artistic mediums, providing them with the opportunity to share and sell their work in a safe and inviting environment. In addition to exhibiting artwork within the gallery, the Hope Arts Gallery also presents the Hope Art Walk. The Hope Art Walk allows visitors to explore Hope at their own leisure, while also experiencing over 80 chainsaw carvings and art pieces that have been put on display throughout the community.

Christ Church National Historic Site

The Christ Church National Historic Site gives families a chance to experience the rich history of the rural church. Consider taking one of the church’s guided tours, featuring costumed interpreters, where you will get to explore the churches exhibits and learn about the early history of Fort Hope. The Christ Church National Historic Site mainly runs tours from the middle of June to the middle of September, but tours can also be booked in advance year-round. All admissions are by donation.
